My dad had a unique collection of interesting things in his basement, but none is as intriguing to me as his file cabinet full of stapled pages and sketches. That's where he kept the originals of the Sunday School lesson notes he prepared years ago when he taught an adult class at Redeemer Baptist Church in Warren, Michigan. His lessons always included a drawing or diagram that he would sketch on the large chalkboard they had given him. You see, he was an engineer by trade at the time, and he loved to make what we might think of as a precursor to a PowerPoint presentation. As a young girl, I often tagged along late in the week as he made a special trip to church to work on his chalkboard drawing for Sunday. Some members would even stop by to get an early peak at what was coming.
I've often felt something should be done with all those lessons my Dad worked so hard on. Getting them digitally recorded seemed like a good idea, and a momentous birthday has given me an excuse to get busy on the project. On August 19, 2011, my Dad turned 85. This website and the files I am creating it from are the beginning of a long-term birthday present I am giving him. I have begun the process of typing and organizing those lessons, but it will take quite awhile -- we believe there are about 150 of them!! So here I go and ... Happy Birthday Dad!

My Dad lost his battle with kidney cancer in early January, 2013. Shortly before he died, he made sure to tell me he loved the work I had done on this website, but it was alright if I wanted to stop. I told him I considered it a lifelong project and would enjoy remembering him and learning from his lessons as I continued on through the years. At his funeral, dear family friends from Ohio wrote a check to continue paying for this website maintenance. They were very encouraging! It's been a little hard trying to get myself back to the computer to work again,
but I'm on summer break and ready to go.
Love You, Dad!
